TPE on Annual Leave

I was supposedly to return on the noon of 1st January and had plenty of time before my impromptu flight to TPE that same day’s midnight but because Jeddah had a massive delay due to customs slow procedures and first availability of aircraft we were delayed over and over again and even worst, the bad weather extended the flight time and we ended up landing at almost to 6pm in the evening. It was so rushed for me as I had to go home and unpacked my stuff and repack them and head back to the airport.

I hadn’t slept for the entire night and what’s worst was we exceeded our flight duty time of 13hours and could in fact stepped down but everyone wanted to go home, so we persevere and flew on a completely FULL flight with no available seats for crew rest so I ended up dozing off on the plane once stepped on board and slept through the flight till I landed in TPE.

Thanks to this set of lovely crews who made Jeddah possible. ❤

After landing in TPE, the first thing I went was the 7-eleven at the airport to grab my japanese rice ball and chun cui he before taking the coach down to Taipei! I was way to early for check in so I left my luggage at the hotel and went out walking around XimenDing for breakfast before heading to underground mall at Taipei Main Station for shopping.

img_2072

It was pretty early and most shops had yet to open. I was really blessed to be back here. So much memories of the good and the bad.

I went cosmetics shopping too at Watsons. They had so much stuffs and especially the eyeshadows. LOVE IT!

Guess what I bought at the underground mall? Furry pyjamas and umbrella haha! Don’t ask me why I buy umbrella from Taiwan because they have the prettiest umbrellas as compared to sg’s. Hehe

img_2101

See the racks full of drinks and those cun chui he bottles are calling my name! Pls buy me haha

img_2102

I had these for supper on my first night in Taipei, you should totally try the Taiwan fruit beers they are really tasty and of course that gooey Mister Cheese potato!!!!!!! They are heavenly if shared haha, too much for me but I finished the entire portion. I’m on my way to become ah buiii …

Free breakfast buffet at the hotel lobby, I took a bowl of my favourite Lu Rou Fan. Who eats fat meat for breakfast? Me!

It was pretty chilly in Taiwan so I was donned on with layers of clothes and because I missed pole so badly, I decided to attend a walk-in pole class at Young Aerial Dance Studio which was within walking distance from the mrt. They taught me plenty of tricks and one of them was the brass monkey. The teacher was nice and I paid quite an affordable price (NTD399) for walk-in. I really love it, I would go there again if I had the chance to fly to Taipei again hopefully as one of my layover stays.

I bought these for supper for my day 2 night, Seaweed Mayo big sotong! It was super delicious, you guys should try it!

This was my last day’s breakfast in the hotel. Nothing fantastic but it fills your tummy.

img_2170

Arashi ramen before I call it the last meal of my Taipei getaway!

img_2171

Ok, so apparently I was late for my flight again. This time it was because the bus that was suppose to go to the airport the terminal had shifted and plus there is now only one bus company that provide coach service from Taipei Main Station to airport and the queue was insanely long. I had to queue and the bus had terrible jams on the way and I reached 10 minutes after the boarding had closed. And thank god because I had crew pass, I could use the priority boarding and the staff gave face because I was a crew. Else I would be in deep shit as I had a long chennai turn the next day and the next flight was in the morning.

img_2186

The insanely amount of stuff I bought from like bath salts that I could use during my china layovers and masks and oh, I should totally recommend you guys this cosmetic brand called Miss Hana! I love their lippies as they last very very long and they are available only at 86 Shop, there is 2 of such shops in XiMenDing, not sure about the other locations, perhaps you might need to google.

It was a pretty fruitful stay in Taipei I have to admit even though it was really short, but it was much needed after all the flying and having to serve passengers, I needed to be a passengers and be served too! Ok, and travelling solo has gotten me way addicted than before. I love the huge queen/king bed and a whole hotel room to myself, no more having to bunk in with the crews or having to share a room. I could blast my own music, dance to the music to myself and of course, no one will laugh at me for being such a clown.

I truly can’t wait for the next solo trip. xoxo

A Friend or A Love?

Life always give people shit test and that sometimes there are just no way to have a win-win situation and that if you are force to make a decision to choose between a years-long friendship or a new relationship which would you pick?

A years-long friendship, is probably someone you have known for many years and that she/he would have know you inside out, what kind of person you are and understands you.

A new relationship, is probably a guy/girl that you have recently known and you could or maybe have the slightest crush on him/her or you two have already been on a steady friendship and date and it’s time to take a notch higher.

However, this time your best friend comes in and decides that this guy/girl is probably not suitable for you, and make several attempts behind your back trying to break you up and let the guy/girl leaves you silently or simply vanish without a word. Somewhat, you managed to find out what happen and that it is time you make an action.

To lose a friend who thinks that he/she may be doing the right thing for you or to believe your friend and lose the guy whom you have been going out for a period of time that your life is needy of him to be your source of humour, entertainment and security.

What would be your decision?

Food Review: JustAcia!

I have been going to JustAcia to fill my tummy whenever I was at Dhoby Ghaut.

What I can say is that the food, isn’t really good, but still, it’s edible and decent enough.

Usually, it’s not the food that tempts me from going there, but rather, it’s the free flow of soft drinks, soft serve and self scoop ice-cream that tempts me!

ImageThe way they serve your food to you looks very Japanese.

And it comes with a soup and kimchi as well as a green mug for your drinks and a tiny metal bowl for ice-cream.

Image

Deep Fried Dory Fish with melted Cheese on Rice Set- $8.80 (exclude GST)

The food looks pretty good, but taste average, the food is actually reheated in the microwave if you were to peep through their open concept kitchen.

Image

Steamed Dumpling Set- $5.90 (exclude GST)

The dumplings were nothing fanciful at all, tastes like those frozen ones where you get from the supermarket, the sauce was bland and had barely any taste.

Nonetheless, I would recommend you to go there for their yummy free flow of ice cream and it’s really a nice place to chill-out and meet your friends, have a group chat or something. They won’t chase you away and you can spend your time there for as long as you want! 😀

Haji Karim Coffee House!

I have been doing several takeaways from Haji Karim Coffee House lately due to my midnight hunger pangs, I just needed some food and being lazy and with limited food options at night, I decided to try out the food there since it’s a 24 hours eating place.

Turns out that the food there is not bad and the price range is roughly about $3.50 onwards for the food and for pratas, it’s slightly pricier probably due to it being 24 hours.

I wouldn’t recommend you to go there for the pratas though, the pratas are relatively chewy but not crispy because they reheat the cooked pratas which makes it lose it’s crispiness. The curry dip is also too salty which I really don’t like it.

However, I do have to recommend you for the nasi goreng, mee goreng, maggi goreng and the many other dishes!

ImageHere’s the menu that I stole from Google but you can try to take a look from the menu. As a chinese, I don’t quite really understand what all those means but, just try your luck ordering something there. And if you don’t take spicy, just tell them no chilli and they will whip up something nice for you.

ImageThis was what they whipped up for me during my very first order there!

I told them mee goreng, but it turns out to be mee goreng (something) I don’t know what it is because the way it’s cooked looked like mee goreng seafood but there’s no seafood except chicken which tastes so so GOOD la!

ImageOn several occasions, I tried to tell the Indian uncles about wanting that same mee goreng that I ordered on my first time but turns out that I keep getting this Mee Goreng, most likely it’s the original or Indian style for there is really a strong hint of indian spice in it.

I’m quite sad because I wasn’t able to know what was the mee goreng that I ordered on my first attempt and it’s just really sad for it taste so good!

As for this reddish mee goreng, it’s very fragrant and nice but I’m not in favour of the indian spice smell and as well as it’s slightly oily though.

ImageAnd recently, I just ordered this Nasi Goreng Ikan Bilis which was recommended by many people in the food reviews.

I have to say that I’m really impressed by the taste, it wasn’t too salty but smelled good and taste awesome too! For a non-fancy looking fried rice, it was really fantastic!

The ikan bilis were crunchy and they were pretty generous with it and there’s the usual onions, greens and cabbage.

I really do recommend you guys to try out their food if you have midnight hunger pangs like me!

But just keep your expectations low in case you’ll get disappointed, but with limited choice of food available at the stroke of 12, the food at Haji Karim is considered pretty decent!

So here’s the address of Haji Karim Coffee House: Blk 529 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, S560529.

It’s at the corner of the block and the shop front is facing the main road and is right beside the carpark which makes it really convenient to spot and park your car too! 😀

Due to the recent fixation of new brackets on my front teeth, my lips starts to feel dry and chappy because of the abrasion of my lips and the metal tip.

And, it also just so happens that I lost my Lip Ice Grape, where I left my lip balm in my work uniform! Oh God!

So, I’ve decided that it’s time to get myself a new lip balm, and still, I prefer Lip Ice among the other brands…

My lip balm!!!

Pros:

  • Really sweet and strong smell of strawberry! I LOVE IT!
  • Very moisturising on my dry lips
  • Last pretty long, it does wear off when you eat, obviously! 🙂
  • Nice container that looks like those lipstick containers! GORGEOUS!

Cons:

  • I don’t really like the colour on my lips, it looks very reddish instead of much pink.

~~~~~
Perhaps, I might get another lip balm that doesn’t contain any colour or tint…
School is starting soon and I’ve decided to give my hair a new colour. Thus, I went to the supermarket, Fairprice Xtra to look for the hairdyes. Indeed, there was so many brands and colours to choose from, like Liese, Loreal, Revlon, and some many other unfamiliar brands, I choose Gatsby.
Perhaps, I thought the colour would look nice on my head, and of course, I was on a budget, so I’ve decided to go for a cheaper one that my usual choice, Liese.
In the end I bought this Gatsby Bubble Type Bleach & Color in Antique Brown…Image
Perhaps, the hairdye was for men, since the model on the box was a guy, but still, I’ve decided to try it on my hair! 🙂
Image
The instructions on the box, similar to Liese’s. Nothing complicated.
ImageSo here’s the shade of brown that I’m most likely to expect, a darker type of brown.
Image
And here’s the what you can expect colour from different shades of hair. But still, don’t expect much from self-hairdyes.
Image
What you can find from the box: A pair of rubber gloves, A set of instructions, A nozzle cap, A bottle of solution and A bottle of colour.
Image
So, you’re supposed to add the colour to the solution bottle…and SHAKE WELL!
Image
Change the cap to the nozzle one. And let’s start dyeing!
Image
Before: Taken with camera flashlight.
Image
After: With camera flashlight again!
Image
And, under normal lighting, my hair looks dark brown:D
Of course, I think that Gatsby hair dye has it both pros and cons…
Pros:
  • Even hair dye from roots to tip, the colour is pretty much evenly spread out.
  • Waiting time is short, takes about 25mins only!
  • The strong hair dye smell (ammonia) DOES NOT EXIST! It doesn’t have much smell except some nice floral smell.
Cons:
  • The hair dye mix was so strong that my scalp was hurting and pricking when I was dyeing my hair! And my skin turn red too! Definitely not for sensitive skin!
  • After washing out the dye, my hair was in terrible condition, SUPER DRY AND HARD! I had to use lots of conditioner on my hair, and even so, my hair keeps tangling itself.
Perhaps, visiting a salon for a hair dye would still be the best, but if you’re on a budget, perhaps you might want to try out Gatsby, but be prepared to buy a super good conditioner for your aftercare.
Else, I would still prefer Liese or Loreal.
So, what’s your preferred brand?
T-A-I-W-A-N-!
It’s my 2nd overseas trip away from Singapore, and this time, I’m going to Taiwan, Taipei!
It’s actually a study trip to be exact, but it’s my second time flying off with Singapore Airlines on economic class. I could recall the last time travelling to Bali, I took Singapore Airlines too.
6 Days 5 Nights in Taiwan gone by in a swift before I even noticed it, I’m already back in Singapore. I stayed in different places, travelling from Taoyuan to Taipei to Yilan to Taichung and many other places, staying in Fullon Hotel Linkou, Plaza International Hotel and even farmstays in Flying Cow Ranch and Shangrila Leisure Farm.
The food in Taiwan was fascinating, yummy and tempting but I preferred the shopping part much more. Well, I ate awesome food like oyster omelette, extra large fried chicken chop, xiao long bao, mee sua and even drank milk tea!
For the shopping part, I managed to grab a few pieces of pretty apparels in the Taiwan’s largest night market- Feng Jia Night Market and also some cosmetics and accessories from Ximending. I really liked Feng Jia Night Market and if I had a chance, I would definitely go back there again and stock up my wardrobe!
So, this was my very first time getting a window seat on board the plane and I’m all hyped up!
Milk Steamboat: It had a milky smell and overpowering salty taste with no natural sweetness of milk.
SO, the taiwan trip was a very fruitful one, for I’ve brought back lots of knowledge and also clothes!
I would definitely want to go back to Taiwan to shop next time, maybe with my bff, Siru!
