An Authentic Kampong Chinese New Year Experience!

Definitely, it’s authentic with the rooster calling away during sunrise and living in a really big house with our own garden.

So, I had my Chinese New Year this year spent at my grandparents house again. The reason to which why I did not spend my Chinese New Year here, right in Singapore was that I didn’t like being here, I prefer the way of life in Malaysia, relaxing and slow paced, of course, time past faster than you could expect.

I had lots of fun there playing with “explosives” such as fireworks and various types of firecrackers!ImageFireworks!ImageReally pretty firecrackers!

ImageTourists came to our kampong to put firecracker! LOL~

Not only that, I got to take a look at the new terrace house that we had just renovated and managed to experience a high tide due to heavy rainfalls over the past few days! It was fun with the water coming into our house and rising to our knees in our kitchen! FUNNN!

Stretching himself like a boss!Image

Our house’s dalmatian had to seek shelter in the house!

Back to grand’s place…

I went back to grand’s place this National Day…Image

It’s actually been quite some time since I went back. I really miss Kota Tinggi so badly and the peaceful surroundings!

Also, recently, there has been little sheep visiting the grasslands behind our house!Image

Plus, I went on with my look-alike aunt on the last night before coming back to Singapore! We went to Aeon Jusco and Padini was having a SALE! So I bought some clothes and then we went for supper at 好好海鲜火锅 and the food was great!

Last few words…or maybe more…

I really love going back to my grandparent’s place! I love everything over there! I know it’s a kampong, there’s nothing fanciful or amazing about there, no advanced technology, everything seems pretty rural but..I JUST LOVE THE WAY IT IS!

There may be occasional bees buzzing in our house, toads croaking in our kitchen at night, but don’t you think that’s what makes it more unique and exciting to stay at?

Proudly Presents: The Kampong Girl

So, when I was in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia, my sis helped me to take some lovely shoots as the kampong scenery was really awesome! Beautiful and natural…So, I’m sharing it with everyone here!

“Little QiQi and her bottle”

“A rundown telephone booth”

“The rebel girl from the 80s”

“I’m in love with the rusty old letter box!”

“I’m a modernistic kampong girl!”

“Nature and me”

I took this myself, and it was really sunny that my eyes could barely open!~

“City girl and her kampong”

“The untouch is the beauty”

Nothing much, but this is our house! So our kampong is not really an attap house but a house built with cement!

Funnybunny: ” I’m a sanity girl”

“In an attempt to be seductive and sexy”

I took my granny’s lollipops that were meant for CNY goodies and took pictures! The lollipops were handmade and looks lovely with it’s bright food-dyes!

“I’m in love with the lollipops!”

“Do you fancy one?”

“It’s all MINE!”

“Dear lollipops, would you mind being mine?”

Okay, I look hideous with the flowers without makeup, eyeliners and blabla…but I love the flowers so much!

Another shot of myself with the flowers! The flowers are so pretty that it feels like spring is really here with us!

I went out to the river side at the back of our house, and the wind was so strong but I couldn’t help taking any photo!

This is lame…Muahaha~

In line with CNY during the phototaking, she helped me took this photo…

This is really unglam, and my sis took this with the world-most horrendous caption, “Check out my older sis flabby on her arms!”

I was pratically OUTRAGED!…

And now, let me present to you my favourite landscape photos that she took…

“I’m so shy”

“Being hippy”

“Spring is finally here!”

“Freedom and captured…”

” A toilet-ty experience!”

“A city girl’s obsession…”

“I’m in control of my destiny…”

Here’s a close-up of the lollipops!

So, if you were to notice that during the photo=taking, I never had a single make-up put on, be it false lashes, mascara, eye-liner, foundation, blusher, lipstick or blablabla, there was none!

I wanted to portray that feeling of city girl giving up her cosmetics to be natural and her own self as a kampong girl.

I hope that everyone love it and you can look me up in DeviantArt (Lilstory) as I’m posted some of them there such as the “Candy-licious” one!

Have a good day!

CNY 2012~

During this CNY, I spent it in Malaysia, Kota Tinggi where my grandparents lived…

So, this is where I waited for my maju bus 227, to Kota Tinggi…

This is random but I bought Beard Papa Durian Puff in City Square@JohorBahru…It was cheap and delicious!

Stopping by Ulu Tiram Interchange during the journey…

In my uncle’s car before heading home!

CNY goodies at grand’s house!

Little QiQi on 初一!

We had charcoal style steamboat, using only charcoal to cook the food! How awesome can that be! I bet most Singaporeans wouldn’t be using such steamboat during CNY…

This is a 8m long red firecracker! boomboomboom~

This is the dalmation that we keep in our kampong, her name is Xiao Qi.

This is our neighbour’s cat resting under my grand’s car!

My sis took a funny photo with the dog…LOL!

And check out my self-DIY nails! I did it myself and I used Sally Hansen Ink Splatter Shatter and Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl nail polishes that were bought from New York!

They look really lovely right?

Anyways, Happy Chinese New Year, every-boardies!

Grandpa’s Desert

Here are some lovely treats that you won’t want to miss!

Mango Sago, Ice Chee Kong, Ice Bobo Chacha are the hot-favourites!

These are the some of the ingredients used for the deserts!

And if you love fresh clams dipped in chilli sauce with lime, then you wouldn’t want to miss these!

Did I mention there’s limited number of plates available? Come early~

These are called “Buah Long Long”, they are great for juices with sour plums!

And you should definitely try the rojak! Cause it’s just simply FABULOUS!

And you could request for extra scoops of peanuts for your rojak if you are a peanut lover!

Fresh Orange Juice

Fresh Green Apple Juice

Fresh Carrots for Carrot and Milk Juice.

We also have freshly squeezed juices from apples, oranges, carrot, celery, watermelon, honeydew and so much more!

Finally, if you are tempted and curious, and wondering where is this place, let me tell you.

It’s located in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia, “华人小饭中心”.

Opening hours are from Tues-Sun, Monday off, 6.30pm-10.30pm.

And look out for my grandpa, he’s a very tall old man, order your drinks, deserts, food from him!

We hope to see you there soon!~

Grandpa’s dessert is definitely the best! I love his desert since young and he has been selling deserts since 40 years ago! I would usually order mango sago, honeydew sago, apple juice and guava juice because they are my favourite!

Often, I will always request for my grandpa to make these for me even though my grandma and uncle is there to help out because I love the deserts that my grandpa make!
